“Balancing Act” is a mixed media piece incorporating acrylic paint, acrylic ink, wax pastels and penwork. The rock shapes symbolize all that we balance every day. Within each shape  are textured surfaces, subtle tones and tiny threads. These  represent the depth, complexity and multiplicity of relationships held within each joy, burden, task or responsibility.
 
It seems important to me to portray this vulnerability which many of us hide from others, and even sometimes from ourselves. Seeing just what we carry can help us to be kinder to ourselves and to one another.
